What a fantastic event. Caroline set up a little bookstore with various modern collections of modern poetry as well as the infamous – Make Time for Aberystwyth Poetry and Short Fiction Anthology 2014, Published by MA A anthology Group, Edited by Caroline Stockford, Holly Venus, George Sandifer-Smith, et al.
Word Distillery poet, Allan Marsden read My Left Eye – a strange poem, which I have always admired very much – full of Celtic, Wicca and druid imagery. He also read, Elegy in a Churchyard.
We had George recite witty poems off the bat – which is always impressive to see! There were also other members from the Sound Studio Writers, including Caroline and Keely.
Tina read some of her multicultural poems. She also recited one about a love affair, which went awry. Also, Word Distillery poet – Heather, read a nice selection of poems.
Also, there were a couple of new readers – the musician and poet – Stephanie Finegan. Wow! What a wordsmith. I checked her stuff out on Youtube and she’s a cool songwriter too with a gift for playing the acoustic guitar… Her video was super-cool with scary skeletons and flash makeup. I enjoyed learning some new stuff from someone who knows about enchanting the audience with her words, similes and images. Loved all the rhythmical assonance and spiritual themes in her work, not to mention the magical meters!
I took a selection of snapshots to make a photo album – my goodness, could I see anything in the Samsung tablet screen but my own reflection – no. It’s impossible to use that thing in normal daylight conditions! It only works under moody lighting – that said – the pictures turned out rather nice.
George confidently tells me that 37 people said that they were coming to the event – this he confirmed from Facebook.
Thanks everyone for turning up and supporting Caroline. I think we are going to do it again next month. Look forward to that, put it in your diary!
